The Demarest Ladies Auxiliary was founded by Mrs. Arthur Griffin with fifteen charter members. The First officers of the Auxiliary were: Mrs. A Griffin as president, Mrs. L. Folgosi as Secretary and Mrs. R. Fraser as Treasurer.

Fire Association- The Demarest Volunteer Fire Assn was organized on November 13, 1894 when forty-six men met in the Waiting Room of the Railroad Depot and volunteered their services, and elected temporary officers. On December 17, 1894 the Association was officially incorporated with Mr. E. W. Wakelee serving as Attorney and the first fifteen men to volunteer their services signing the articles of incorporation. It is interesting to note that the Fire Department is actually nine years older then the borough of Demarest. Mr. Demarest served the Dept as chief for the first 13 years of its existence and upon his retirement was presented with a silver loving cup by the members in appreciation for his service. At this same meeting it was decided that all future meetings were to be held in the local Barber Shop. Later in 1895 the first apparatus A Rumsey Truck with Bridgeport Extinguishers was purchased at a cost of $450.00. Work was started on the firehouse, a one story building on the site where the present fire house is located, a lot donated by Mr. J. W. Z. Demarest. An early member of the Department Mr. J.E Collins very kindly provided the services of his team of horses to pull the fire apparatus whenever the alarm sounded.
